Rebels Announce 2017 Schedule
The James Connolly Albany Rebels will compete for the New York Cup this season with Midwest opponents Buffalo and Syracuse, as was announced with the rest of their 2017 schedule earlier today.
The season opens on May 6 with the Rebels traveling to Syracuse for a 7s tournament. The following two weekends feature tournaments in Hartford and Montreal.
Albany’s first home match is scheduled for Saturday, June 4 against Hartford.
The New York Cup will be played in a round robin format with Albany, Buffalo and Syracuse all playing each other on three different dates. Each team will host a day of games in their city.
“We are very excited to get the New York Cup up and running against Syracuse and Buffalo,” said Rebels chairman Cillian Flavin. “We hope to be competitive and if possible win our initial competitive season. We have a great coaching team led by Tim Gerrish, and with the experience that Ian Maher lends, we believe we can build on last year's momentum.”
