We have oppurtunities to play all year long. In the summer the team plays a league schedule against teams from New York, New England and Canada. In the Fall we host a Co-ed Rec League, and bi-weekly training and conditioning during the winter.

Hurling

Hurling is one of the oldest field games in the world and is popular for at least 3000 years in Ireland with the first literary reference dating back to 1272 BC.

Gaelic Football

Gaelic Football is a distinctly Irish field invasion game played with a round football which can be caught, kicked and hand passed. The game was first codified in 1887, although it has purported links to older varieties of football played in Ireland.

UPCOMING EVENTS

It's almost time! Thank you to everyone who registered for the Rec League. We have a great mix of new and old players joining the ranks this year, and we can't wait to get you out there.

For our new players, or even our old ones, we'll be hosting a training and skills demonstration to get you ready with the basics this Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. at Celtic Hall.

This will be just in time, as our first day of the league will be coming up this weekend on Saturday, with games starting around 11:00 a.m. also at Celtic Hall!

None of this would be possible without the hard work of our Commissioner, Henry Best, the rest of his team, and, of course, our sponsors for this year's league: @washington_tavern, @albanylionheartpub (Lionheart on the Green), Raven Hammer Contracting, and Davids Diagnostic and Repair LLC!

We pushed the eventual champions @jamesjoycegfc down to the wire, but it wasn’t to be in our first outing at the @usgaafinals. Nothing but pride for this team. Read the match report in our bio. Rebels abú 💚🤍

After the Football teams exit we needed to find something or in this case someone to cheer for so we adopted Dylan from @indygaa. Good times were had cheering him on, and we were even able to do a jersey swap and cement a new friendship that could only happen at @usgaafinals!

While this wasn't the result that we wanted to see as a club, we know that we came here in force and played with everything that we had to give. There is so much to be proud of as a club and team from this past season.

The Rebels will be back, and we're going to be sharper than ever.

Our first game at the USGAA Finals is on Friday at 9:25 a.m. in Canton, MA! This game will be one of four Junior D Football quarterfinal games at the tournament. We'll be up against @jamesjoycegfc from @chicagogaa in the Central Division.

The Rebels are onto the finals for the Midwest Junior D Championship after a decisive victory in the opening game of the tournament. We'll be back on the pitch tomorrow at 11:40 am.

🚨ROSTER ANNOUNCEMENT🚨

As the Rebels travel out to Rochester, the one thing on all our minds is getting ready to play our hearts out and leave everything on the field, and it all starts here with our opening game roster.

The Rebels take the field at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday against Roc City Gaelic.

As we prepare for Midwest Finals in Rochester, let's take a look back at a historic season for the club:

In total, we played 6 games, five with our football team and one exhibition match with our hurling team. We took home the win in every one of them.

As a club, we scored 69 points over the bar and 20 goals. That's a total of 129 points between both teams.

We traveled almost 850 miles to face opponents in Buffalo and Syracuse.

The club also registered 49 members this year, with 47 of them being players. This is a club record, and it's a number we plan to keep growing as we continue on.

Thank you to everyone who stepped up this year, from the players to the coaches, and to all the volunteers who helped us out at our home games and beyond. Every single one of you helped to make this happen, and we cannot be more thankful to have such a strong club and community behind us.

Yesterday, our footballers closed out a perfect season to secure the NY Cup, capping an unforgettable first campaign on our new field.

Thank you to every player, coach, volunteer and supporter who made this season possible. This achievement belongs to the entire Rebels family. 💚

Next stop: the Midwest Championship in Rochester!

The Rebels are suiting up one last time before our regular season ends, and we head to the Midwest Championship at the end of the month.

Come cheer us on at home against the @syracuse_gaels and then join us for the afters at the AOH Father Henry Tansey Division 5 Albany!

The Rebels are back on the road this weekend as we make the journey to Buffalo to take on the Buffalo Fenians on their home turf. Throw-in is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Players should arrive no later than 2:00 p.m. for warm-ups.

The Albany Rebels are hosting our Midwest to Nationals raffle starting today, through July 20th! Our year is off to a great start, and we're looking forward to a trip to the Midwest Finals in Rochester, NY, at the end of July. There, we hope to secure a trip to the USGAA Finals in Boston, MA, in August.

Rebels, we'll be hosting additional training starting this Monday. While our main practices will still be held every Wednesday starting at 6 pm, this is just another opportunity to get some touches in on the ball for both new and experienced players.
